OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2011. There are started 17th Conference of Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 7th meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol. The Ukrainian delegation headed by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Mykola Zlochevskiy.

These international forums are higher governing body of the Convention and Protocol and gather annually at the end of the year consisting of over two hundred delegations from countries and international organizations. This year in Durban, there are discussing perspectives of the Second period of the Kyoto Protocol and flexible mechanisms of the document, which is implemented by the Parties, including Ukraine.

Through the use of financial mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol, Ukraine during 2009-2010, it is involved to the state budget 470 million Euros under the "Green Investment Scheme" and Ukrainian companies have received about 650 million investments from the implementation of "joint implementation projects."

Given the results achieved, this year the delegation of Ukraine will take part in the formation of a constructive position in the post-Kyoto period.

The main tasks facing the delegation of Ukraine are:

- To reach a decision regarding the second period the Kyoto Protocol and the commitment to attracting major countries that emit greenhouse gases;

- To defend, with making fast in the international documents, the right "the countries with the transitive economy" to receive the financial and technological assistance at the expense of the international funds for development provision low carbon national economies;

- To achieve conservation features of the Kyoto flexible mechanisms, including joint implementation projects after 2012.

The work of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 7th meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol expires December 10, 2011.
