New Technology Created by Baosteel Passed Acceptance
OREANDA-NEWS. November 29, 2011. Stainless Steel Business Unit's R&D project "Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel Mixed Rolling Process Control Model Technology" supported by Baosteel Ltd.'s "Cold Rolling Gold Apple Plan Team" passed the acceptance smoothly. The review panel believes that the successful research of mixed rolling process control model technology realizes the stable production of typical specifications of carbon steel and stainless steel in 1750 cold tandem mill, and the actual product quality can satisfy the users' requirements. This model technology is the first creation in China and reaches the international leading level, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.
The 5-stand cold tandem mill of Stainless Steel Business Unit is the first stainless steel and carbon steel mixed rolling tandem mill in China. With a view to realize the continuous, stable and efficient mixed rolling production of stainless steel and carbon steel, and obtain the stainless steel and carbon steel products with good surface quality, dimensional accuracy and product performance, from the beginning of last year, supported by Science & Technology Development Department of Baosteel Ltd., Cold Rolling Gold Apple Plan Team planned and established 5 R&D projects for Stainless Steel Business Unit in view of the stainless steel and carbon steel mixed tandem rolling technology developed first time in China and from the perspectives of product, process and control.
"Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel Mixed Rolling Process Control Model Technology" is one of the 5 R&D projects. Through the researches on the mathematical models for process control of stainless steel and carbon steel mixed rolling, the R&D team accomplished the optimization of stainless steel cold tandem rolling control strategy and model data framework design, realized the stable production of the specifications and varieties specified in the product mix of 5-stand cold tandem mill of Stainless Steel Business Unit. The actual product quality satisfies the users' requirement for quality certification, and reaches the quality level of imported like products.
The project defines the model data and process specifications for stable mixed rolling of stainless steel and carbon steel, develops a set of tools for rapid optimization of model parameters, summarizes and abstracts 4 corporate technical know-how. The successful implementation of the project makes great contribution to the reduction of commissioning time and commissioning material and reduces the cost by over RMB 4 million.
