OREANDA-NEWS. November 29, 2011. In Moldova, the total sales volume of the fixed telephone communication declined by 11,4% to 1 bln. 257,3 mln. leis in 9 months of 2011. In January-September, 2011, the sales volume of Moldtelecom’s the fixed telephone communication declined by 11,8% to 1 bln. 238,9 mln, with other providers’ sales volume rising by 19,8% to 18,3 mln. leis, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Informative Technologies informs.

At the same time, the average return per user (ARPU) dropped by 16% and made 121,6 leis. The Moldtelecom’s ARPU made 123,9 leis (minus 16,1%), with ARPU of other providers being 43,5 leis (minus 13,6%). According to NRAECIT findings, within 9 months, traffic declined by 13,45% to 2 bln.191,8 mln. minutes in fixed nets as compared with the same period of 2010. In 80% of cases users made calls from fixed telephones to local fixed phone numbers.

The density of trunk calls made 11,3%, of mobile calls – 4,9%, with international calls being about 3%. The specialists explain decline in sales on the fixed telephone communication market by more active use of cell phones and internet telephony. The fixed telephony communication market in Moldova is divided among 20 providers. The biggest of them, Moldtelecom, has the 98,6% sales share.
