OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2011. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the concept development of vegetable growing and processing industry by 2015. For this period, it is scheduled to attract 30.8 billion UAH for the development of industries.

650 million will allocate from the state budget and another 150 million - from municipal budgets. The remaining funds will be invest in entities. It will allow to increase volume of output of high-quality domestic vegetable goods and to reduce the prices for it.

The Government plans to increase production of vegetable production to 10 million tons per year, which will allow supplying internal needs. Now the population grows about 90% vegetables. By 2015, the Government plans to increase the share of farms that specialize in large commodity industrial production. This will allow creating an additional 40 thousand jobs.

The implementation of the concept will allow reducing the loss of grown products. Currently, 30% of production lost due to lack of appropriate conditions in storages and processing facilities. So, over the next 4 year, it will be actively building new greenhouse complex, modern vegetable storages, and enterprises of processing industry, especially near regional centers.

The main purpose of the concept is to provide the population with high quality and at the same time affordable products and vegetable processing industry. Now up to 30% of vegetables sold through retailers are imported. Manufacturing our own products requires significant investments of money provided by the concept. The amount of money each year will be refined during the preparation of state and local budgets.
