OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2011. Moldovan agricultural goods are likely to disappear from the Russian market in the next years, as they will be no longer competitive in terms of packing and marketing, Moldovan Agriculture and Food Minister Vasile Bumacov has said.

Bumacov noted that, following discussions held with competent Russian specialists during his last week visit to Moscow, and after having studied the Russian market, he drew the conclusion that, if the Moldovan producers fail to associate to create high-tech lines of packing farming goods, Moldova might be excluded from the Russian market.

"We should export directly to super-markets and not to open-air markets. Our production is highly appreciated in Russia, we have a good name in terms of quality. Yet, we have a poor marketing. This is likely to endanger the sale of products on the Russian market," Bumacov said.
The agriculture minister added that, following talks with Russian officials, the number of companies having the right to export to Russia was extended, reaching 175 in 2011.
