OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2011. As the Ministry of Finance informs, the debt has grown by USD 68,46 mln., or by 6,2% against the same period of 2010. As of January, 1, 2011, the external national debt of Moldova made USD 1 bln. 116,17 mln. whereas, as of October, 2010, it made USD 1 bln. 103,13 mln.

The growth in arrears is explained by the fact that in that period sums of external loans takings (USD 79,08 mln.) surpassed external debt service payments (USD 59,68 mln.) by USD 19,4 mln.

Besides, it is explained by the positive changes in the exchange rate of USD 36,01 to other currencies. The external national debt of Moldova increased by USD 342,5 mln. (44,3%) and equaled 18,9% of the country’s GDP in 2010.
