OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2011. Milli Majlis has begun discussing the Bill on State Social Protection Fund’s Budget 2012.

Fund’s chair Salim Muslimov has claimed that as a result of pension reforms in the country the pension above the poverty level will be provided for the 1.28 million senior citizens or 97.5% of their total number (1.246 million). It was also ensured bringing of the average level of pensions up to 40% of the average wage," Muslimov said.

As a result, Azerbaijan has fulfilled the conditions of the European Social Charter.

"Following the reforms the share of pension expenditures in GDP will amount 5.134% next year against this figure of 3.9% in 2003," Muslimov said.
