OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2011. Boryspil international airport placed UAH 250 mio 1 year domestic bond just within two days after UkrSibbank’s investment banking division opened the book. The deal is part of larger UAH 500 mio transaction, aimed to provide liquidity for ongoing ambitious construction projects of the airport, reported the press-centre of UkrSibbank.

“Understanding importance of enhancing country’s ability to handle international passenger traffic on the eve of upcoming European football championship, UkrSibbank has stepped in to secure that the airport receives all necessary funding in time. This was against the backdrop of gloomy mood on international markets, skyrocketing money market rates and lack of liquidity in Ukrainian banking system”, - said Chairman of the Management Board UkrSibbank BNP Paribas Group Philippe Joannier.

On the same day (Nov 17th), Boryspil Airport set another record, letting through 7 million passengers (in 2010, KBP served 6.7 million passengers for the whole year) and displaying robust 21% YOY passenger growth in Jan-Oct 2011. Airport Boryspil faced severe capacity shortages in the middle of last decade, when open and growing Ukrainian economy stimulated rapid growth of passenger traffic. In order to meet growing demand, the airport reconstructed its flagship terminal B and launched construction of two new terminals – D and F, which shall almost triple existing capacities. Being by far the largest Ukrainian airport, Boryspil serves over 70% of passengers and over 90% of international passenger traffic.
