SILICIUM KAZAKHSTAN Produced 11000 Tonnes of Metallurgical Silicon
OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2011. During the year the plant (city of Karaganda) produced about 11 thousand tonnes of high grade metallurgical silicon and 8 thousand tonnes of microsilica. This is a slightly lower volume provided by design capacity of the plant, but, taking into account the fact that the period of adaptation for silicon plants lasts 2-3 years, this is a very good result, reported the press-centre of Titan.
“We don’t have stock of goods in the warehouse, this is a good sign of export demand”, – says Director General of the plant Alexander Sutyaginsky. – “The most important thing is that we achieved good quality of the produced silicon. Our specialists, including shiftmen and blast-furnace workers, mastered the whole production process”.
During the year the product passed international certification and attestation, it exists in international classification and already has its own rating. In technological process no boundaries for creativity exist: the plant mastered refinement of silicon with compressed air, it is planned to implement more advanced technology – with application of compressed air and oxygen. Each day the enterprise makes one step forward concerning improvement of technological process and quality of products.
A few days ago the plant launched the second furnace, and now capacity of the enterprise amounts to 25 thousand tonnes of metallurgical silicon per year. At the same time the works on further expansion of the production are underway: design work on installation of two more furnaces is being finished – construction of the second stage of the plant will start in 2013. It will allow to increase main products output to 50 000 tonnes per year.
Production of metallurgical silicon conforms to the strictest ecological standards, it is distinguished for high automation of labor and perfectness of safety system. “Such plants is a high degree of stage security, 5-6-fold, – Director General of SILICIUM KAZAKHSTAN explains – “This is why the plant is so expensive – one provided all conditions of control, monitoring of product manufacturing process and preservation of the whole chain of safety”. “Modern system of gas purification which captures the smallest particles, guarantees, that only gaseous mixture which is usual for human will be emitted into the atmosphere. This is the first plant of such a high level not only in Kazakhstan but also on the whole post-Soviet territory”, – Technical Director of the plant Ivan Bubnov notes. Nowadays the plant SILICIUM KAZAKHSTAN is the most modern version of renewed technology of metallurgical silicon production in the world.
Metallurgical silicon plant SILICIUM KAZAKHSTAN is included in silicon cluster of the project “PARK” (head of the project is deputy of State Duma Mikhail Sutyaginsky). In the production of metallurgical silicon one uses organic carbon which is produced by the enterprise situated in Tevrizsky district of Omsk region within the framework of realization of timber processing cluster of the PARK.
