RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results: November 14-18, 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. November 22, 2011. Over the week of November 14-18, 2011, the RTS Index went down by 2.28% to reach 1,495.87 points (1,530.70 points as of November 11, 2011). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 7.78 points), followed by OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 5.24 points) and OAO "LUKOIL" (down 4.81 points).
The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 1.17% to reach 9,987.51 points (10,105.53 points as of November 11, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index - RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 0.54% closing at 1,717.04 points (1,707.82 points as of November 11, 2011).
Last week's drop on the stock market was accompanied by an increase of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went up by 3.72% to reach 47.98 points (46.26 points as of November 11, 2011).
Last week all key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest downturn was reported by the metals and mining sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index falling by 5.21%. A significant decrease was also shown by the finance and industry sectors, with the RTS Finances Index and RTS Industrial Index going down by 4.70% and 1.80% respectively. A growth was reported only by the consumer & retail sector, with the RTS Consumer & Retail Index adding 0.84%.
The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 0.58%.
The US dollar depreciated by 0.36% against the ruble to reach 30.73 rubles per US dollar (30.85 rubles as of November 11, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of November 14-18, 2011 equaled USD8.76 billion (268.03 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,208.96 million.
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,154.75 million (RUB35,356.98 million) followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD526.56 million (RUB16,118.09 million) and ordinary shares of OAO "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD204.42 million (RUB6,259.78 million). The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 51.75%, 23.60% and 9.16% respectively.
The week's top gainers were preferred (SNGSPS) and ordinary (SNGSS) shares of "Surgutneftegas" OJSC that went up by 7.89% to RUB16.487 and 3.77% to RUB28.378 respectively as well as ordinary shares of JSC "NOVATEK" that grew by 3.45% to RUB420.00.
The week's top losers on the RTS Standard market were ordinary shares of OAO Severstal (CHMFS) that fell 6.81% to reach RUB426.74 followed by Tatneft (TATNS) that lost 5.88% to reach RUB155.77 and JSC VTB Bank (VTBRS) that shed 5.51% to reach RUB0.06802. * The data is received by conversion of daily dollar turnovers into rubles
