ICBC Wins Chinese Foundation for Lifeline Express Prize
OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2011. Chinese Foundation for Lifeline Express ("Foundation") presented the 2011 "Brightness Contribution Prize" to ICBC in recognition of ICBC's commendable efforts in poverty alleviation and blindness treatment over the years. This is the third year that ICBC received the Award, reported the press-centre of ICBC.
This year, ICBC donated RMB 3 million for 1,000 poor cataract patients living in Yunnan's Chuxiong mountainous areas to receive free vision-restoring surgery and the establishment of a local Cataract Treatment Center. The Center, with an aim to improve medical facilities and level of diagnosis, brings light and hope to many more patients. Once again, ICBC to lend support to the vulnerable and disadvantaged groups subsequent to the donation to subsidize 2,000+ poor cataract patients from Sichuan and Guizhou to restore eyesight through surgery. Eye surgeries for patients have already started this month, while Cataract Treatment Center is expected to start operation in the first half of next year.
Meanwhile, the benefit of online donation channel opend by ICBC for the Foundation has become increasingly significant.. A total of more than RMB 240,000 has been raised through online donation channel, an effective platform for customers to show their care and collection of donations for the Foundation.
Since 2007, ICBC has followed the unwavering principal of "Serve the people, Give back to community" and lent support to this disadvantaged group four times, bringing light to the impoverished patients and hope to the family of the patients. ICBC also donated more than 10 million to set up Eye Microsurgery Training Center in Inner Mongolia.
