Azerfon Expands 4G Network
OREANDA-NEWS. November 22, 2011. First mobile operator of Azerbaijan Azerfon providing 3G services is expanding the number of 4G stations in its network.
The company’s manager Elshad Farzaliyev has reported that Azerfon has signed a contract with Nokia Siemens Networks for modernization of its network as a result of which the company’s 2G and 3 G networks will be expanded.
"We have invested over USD 80 million to development and upgrade of our network. The contract assumes construction of 3 G and 4G network in the country",- he noted.
According to E. Farzaliyev the company will present exact data on the number of 4 G stations by the end of the year.
"After we are fully ready to provide 4 G services and technical base is ready as well we will apply for getting 4G services license
By the end of 2011 we will have over 1.600 sites (2G/3G/4G) which will enable Azerfon company to provide better network quality in Azerbaijan",-he noted.
