OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2011. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will allocate Kharkiv PJSC "MEGABANK" a credit in the amount of USD 13.5 million for Energy Efficiency Program in Ukraine (UKEEP), reported the press-centre of MEGABANK.

The purpose of this program is funding for energy efficiency and investing in sustainable energy use of private sector.

The credit is provided for 5 years.

This is the third project of EBRD with the "MEGABANK". At present, "MEGABANK" realizes two long-term program of support of micro, small and medium-sized businesses in the concluded credit agreements with EBRD (worth USD 20 million and USD 15 million).

The new project will issue loans to small and medium businesses, but only in accordance with the purpose of the program.

The signing of the agreement will be held on November 14 in the second awards ceremony UKEEP for the best results in implementing energy efficiency projects E3 Awards (Kiev, hotel "Hyatt Regency Kiev, ul. Tarasova, 5, beginning at 19.00).

Reference. UKEEP is a loan product, developed by the EBRD for Ukrainian private companies of any sector, which want to invest in energy efficiency or create renewable energy sources - investments and result in reduced energy consumption, increase production of its own energy or more efficient use thereof.

UKEEP was launched in May 2007. During this period, the program approved 49 projects worth more than USD 100 million. Implementation of these projects resulted in savings of more than 2 million MWt of energy and reduce emissions 533 thousand tons of carbon dioxide.

UKEEP also provides free technical assistance from international experts on energy to companies that have projects that meet the conditions of funding by UKEEP.
