OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2011. University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was authorized to confer degrees of doctor of engineering by Commission of Education Degree of State Council, among other 24 high education institutions.

The degree is newly established by the state to meet the needs of building an innovation-oriented national and improving engineering talents cultivation system.

People with doctor of engineering degree are expected to be capable of solving complex technological problems regarding engineering field.

First batch of these 25 institutions are all most prestigious colleges and universities in China. USTC is qualified to confer such degrees in majors of "Electronic Information" and "Energy and Environment Protection".
