OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2011. S7 Airlines celebrates its first anniversary as a member of oneworld®, the premier global airline alliance, reported the press-centre of S7 Airlines.

For its customers, S7 Airlines' addition to oneworld has made travelling around the world more easy, smoother and rewarding.

With S7 on board, oneworld's network extends to more than 750 destinations in almost 150 countries worldwide, served by some of the biggest and best names in the airline industry - American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN Airlines, Malev Hungarian Airlines, Mexicana, Qantas, Royal Jordanian and S7.

Since joining oneworld, S7 has worked with its alliance partners to smooth transfers between their flights and provide seamless service to more destinations. For S7 Airlines, that has resulted in a significant increase in passengers.

Since joining the alliance, the number of customers transferring between S7 and its oneworld partners has increased 68 per cent.

For the past year S7 Airlines has carried over 53 thousand passengers on tickets issued by the alliance members*, which exceeds the same value for the previous year by more than 76%.

Among the biggest beneficiaries of S7's addition to oneworld have been members of its S7 Priority frequent flyer programme, whose benefits were extended throughout the alliance, enabling them to earn and redeem award miles on any oneworld flight and, for top tier cardholders, access up to 550 airport lounges worldwide.

In its first year as a oneworld member, S7 Priority members:

Made more than 10,000 flights on alliance partners flights.

Earned more than 10 millions tier bonus miles by flying on on oneworld partner airlines.

Took hundreds of "redemption" flights on partner airlines in oneworld. Members of the established oneworld airlines' frequent flyer programmes have made more than 24,000 flights with S7 Airlines.

S7 Deputy Chief Executive Anton Eremin said: "S7's first year as part of oneworld has been rewarding – for both the airline and our customers. Being part of the world's premier alliance has made it easier for our customers to reach many more parts of the world, and for people from all around the globe to reach more parts of Russia. That has resulted in considerably more passengers for our airline – a trend that we expect to increase with more airlines joining the alliance next year."

In 2012 oneworld is set to welcome on board three more airlines on board from different world regions - airberlin (with its main hubs in Berlin, Dusseldorf and Vienna), Kingfisher (Mumbai and Delhi) and Malaysia Airlines (Kuala Lumpur).

Air tickets may be purchased at the S7 website, the mobile website and at any sales office. You can also get accurate flight information, book and buy tickets by dialing the call centre of the company at 8-800-200-000-7 (free for Russia).
