Ukrainian Industry Set Course for Energy Efficiency
OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2011. The Ukrainian industry has set course for energy efficiency. The Chairman of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation of Ukraine Mykola Pashkevych has commented so on the results of implementation of the "Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Programme" (UKEEP) of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
During program implementation, since 2007, it is implemented about 40 projects in sphere of energy efficiency, an energy conservation and renewable energetic on the total about 110 million USD. The projects were implemented practically in all industries of a national economy.
"The effectiveness of this program has exceeded expectations. The Ukrainian companies have shown the considerable interest in innovative technologies, the newest equipment and energy audits. This allows hoping that in the short term, Ukraine will reach of a new level of energy efficiency of economy," Mykola Pashkevych said.
He has noted that the Agency would continue to support such programs and to collaborate with the leading international financial institutions to attract additional investment resources for implementing energy efficiency projects.
