Ukraine Completed Electrification of Poltava-Kremenchug-Burty Section
OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2011. The electrification of the section Poltava-Kremenchug-Burty is completed that would allow to reduce railroad communications operating cost by 110 million UAH annually. The celebrations devoted to putting into operation of the electrified section Poltava-Kremenchug-Burty of Southern Railway, have taken place with the participation of the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov.
The opening was marked by the transfer of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov of a symbolic key of electrification to the Chief of Southern Railway Victor Ostapchuk. The same day the electric train has departed to the first trip by the renewed section.
Borys Kolesnikov has thanked railroad workers, having noted that they had been fulfilled a huge amount of work. "Today we must move to the European level of development of railways, in the first place - the passenger traffic, - he said. - We strive for a European quality of service, and consequently to the European level of wages for railway workers."
By calculations of experts, the capital investments, invested in electrification and complex modernization of the station Mala Pereschepynska - Kremenchug (731.3 million UAH), will pay off in 5 years and 7 months. Thus, it is expected to reduce annual diesel fuel consumption and emissions into the atmosphere.
"We are talking about multi-application program. First of all, we save diesel fuel, which we are importing, and we use the electricity which is generated in Ukraine. Secondly, we are reducing an amount of bursts, i.e. we are improving the environment. The third - high speed movement will go through Poltava to Kharkiv and Donetsk, and in half a year, at railway station of Poltava, we will already meet the first high speed train: for this purpose, we differentiate passenger and freight movement," Boriys Kolesnikov said.
At the same time, the Vice Prime Minister stressed that a daily saving of railways, by the refusal of diesel fuel on site Poltava-Kremenchug - 306 thousand UAH. Total reduction in annual operating costs will amount to more than 110 million UAH. "This savings will have on tomorrow," the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine underlined.
