OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2011. Annual R&D achievements presentation and awarding ceremony was held in China Steel Corporation (CSC). Chairman Jo-Chi Tsou attended the ceremony and gave the praise to all R&D award winners personally, reported the press-centre of CSC.   

He also expected that Technology and Production Division to work closely together to overcome the challenge of raw materials price rise with scientific and systematic ways to lower down the cost needed for steel production continuously. To support the need of research, Chairman Tsou said, the goal of enhancing R&D budget to 1% of turnover will remain steadfast although the profit of the company is declined recently. He hopes that, with the effort of carrying out innovative researches, Technology Division can lead CSC to progress continuously and forge ahead to succeed.

President Chao-Hua Ou indicated that, for the realization of the vision of “Energy saving and environment protection”, CSC has accomplished the medium and long term strategies as well as the work plans. He encouraged the employees to enhance the spirit of innovation, accelerate the speed of R&D, and reach the anticipated goal as soon as possible.

Executive Vice President King-Ling Du also urged the R&D Deaprtment to assist the Iron-making Department to increase the percentage of subordinate raw materials used in the mill and to develop innovative new ironmaking processes needed for the future. With the effort been put, the competitiveness created from raw materials can be greatly achieved and enhanced.

In this year, 19 research achievements were recommended for the R&D award competition. 1 Chairman Award, 2 President awards, 3 Excellence awards and 5 First Grade awards were singled out from them and received the honor in the ceremony. Mr. Chen Yu-Soong, Vice President of Technology Division, expressed his deep acknowledgement for the long support and recognition from both the company and the Production Division to all R&D research works. He emphasized that the R&D Departments will continue the implementation of innovative researches and facilitate the upgrowth of both CSC and downstream companies.
