OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2011. The 14th quarterfinal of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) among university students of the north-eastern European region was held in Minsk, Belarus. This year, 53 teams from Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia participated in the contest, reported the press-centre of IBA.

Since 1998, IBA has been sponsoring Belarusian State University (BSU) student teams that participate in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contests. Since 2004, IBA has been the general sponsor of BSU teams. A team of the Belarusian State University won gold medals at the 28th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest in 2004.

In the quarterfinals, four BSU teams and one team of the Latvian University were awarded with first place diplomas. In addition, teams of the BSU, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR), Vilnius University, Grodno State University, Kaunas Technology University, and Latvian University took the 2nd and 3rd places. These teams will participate in world semi-finals of the ACM ICPC.

At the special ceremony, the winners of the contest received gifts from IBA.
