OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2011. Oil and Gas Production Division Sorochinskneft (a part of OJSC Orenburgneft, a subsidiary of the TNK-BP Group) is implementing a large-scale program of environmental protection activities. They plan to spend in excess of 90 mln rubles for utilizing oil sludge in the company fields under the program by the end of 2012, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

In particular, the oil sludge deposits that are located in the territory of Nikolskaya Central Field Facility Site (CFFS) in Krasnogvardeiskiy District will be fully remediated by the end of this year. As of today, they have neutralized a pit holding 30,000 cubic meters of recovered oil sludge. In the nearest future, they will commission the first stage of a special landfill for drilling waste processing, which will permit utilizing 6,000 cubic meters of hydrocarbon waste that still remain in Nikolskoe by the end of the year. The pits on other Sorochinskneft areas will be remediated next year.

'Oil sludge and drilling waste processing projects as well as drilling site remediation are an important part of our efforts to implement a large-scale environmental protection program', said Alexander Loginov, Director, Health, Safety and Environment Department, Sorochinskneft.
