RTS Released Stock Market Trading Results: October 31- November 3
OREANDA-NEWS. November 9, 2011. Over the week of October 31- November 3, 2011, the RTS Index went down by 4.22% to reach 1,542.39 points (1,610.32 points as of October 28, 2011). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (down 16.94 points), followed by Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 9.97 points) and OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 7.22 points).
The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 1.86% to reach 10,207.41 points (10,401.11 points as of October 28, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index - RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 2.21% closing at 1,720.64 points (1,759.55 points as of October 28, 2011).
Last week's drop on the stock market was accompanied by an increase of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went up by 7.79% to reach 46.90 points (43.51 points as of October 28, 2011).
Last week all key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest downturn was reported by the finance sector, with the RTS Finances Index falling by 4.61%. A significant decrease was also shown by the metals & mining and oil & gas sectors, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index and RTS Oil & Gas Index going down by 3.81% and 3.03% respectively.
The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, lost 1.18%.
The US dollar appreciated by 1.46% against the ruble to reach 30.68 rubles per US dollar (30.24 rubles as of October 28, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of October 31- November 3, 2011 equaled USD5.10 billion (153.97 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,824.40 million.
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD941.38 million (RUB28,572.72 million) followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD507.72 million (RUB15,421.44 million) and ordinary shares of OAO "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD158.99 million (RUB4,823.86 million). The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 51.22%, 27.63% and 8.65% respectively.
The week's top gainers were preferred (SNGSPS) and ordinary (SNGSS) shares of "Surgutneftegas" OJSC that went up by 2.56% to RUB15.358 and 1.56% to RUB26.727 respectively as well as ordinary shares of Tatneft (TATNS) that grew by 1.46% to RUB155.43.
The week's top losers on the RTS Standard market were ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) that fell 5.39% to reach RUB80.89 followed by OJSC Uralkali (URKAS) that lost 3.86% to reach RUB262.28 and OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) that shed 3.50% to reach RUB5,914.90.
