Baosteel Volume of Rolling Production Exceeds 10 mn Tons
OREANDA-NEWS. November 08, 2011. Baosteel Co.,Ltd. heavy plate branch 5m line total volume of rolling production exceeds 10 million tons. Since its beginning putting into production, 5m line actively promotes the product quality stability, contract balance and specification varieties' effective expansion and enhances manufacturing capabilities. The products are widely used in the Three Gorges power plant and are sold at home and abroad, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.
Five-meter heavy plate rolling mill is the first set of self-integrated extra-wide heavy plate rolling mill in China and one of the items in Baosteel 10th five-year plan. Formally puting into operation on on March 1, 2005, it ends China's history with no extra-wide heavy plate mill. In 2006, it did a successful trial of the world's highest grade X120 pipeline steel, acquired entire ship supply capacity of large-scale transportation ship and LNG liquid gas transportation ship, and achieved exclusive supply of full-size X80 pipeline steel in China's natural gas project and thin gauge X70 pipeline steel in Queensland pipeline project.In addition, steel pressure vessel steel,storage tank steel, hydro-electric steel, quenched and tempered marine engineering steel , construction and bridge steel are used in national strategic oil reserve, the Three Gorges power station, the Beijing Olympics and Shanghai World Expo; high value-added products like TMCP high-strength ship plates and structural steel with high surface quality requirement are exported to well-known shipbuilding and construction machinery manufacturers in Korea, Japan among other countries.
In recent years, faced with the international financial crisis, plate product market is increasingly competitive. To integrate resources and enhance the production and management advantages, in April this year, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. set up heavy plate branch, clarified the goal of "integrated system, achieving full coverage and management mechanism, improving main technical and economic indicators", and carried out mechanism fulfillment, system improvement and worked on production, technology, quality, cost, equipment. After six months of integration, the effort has been paying off. For example, labor competition of 14 key indicators which reflected the cost management capabilities in heavy plate process was carried out, which promoted the implementation of various improvement measures and promoted the continuous cost improvement and manufacturing capability enhancement.
