OREANDA-NEWS. November 7, 2011. Reception with representatives from BMI and Moscow Domodedovo Airport was held at the residence of British Ambassador to Russia.
Five years ago, BMI began operating flights to Moscow Domodedovo Airport, the largest and the most modern airport in Russia. The company began its flights to Russia with one daily London - Moscow flight. In 2008, the frequency of flights has already doubled. During the period of cooperation 2905 flights to Moscow has been performed, and passenger traffic of the company in the Moscow destination has reached more than 475,000 people. The airline shows steady growth rates: for example, from 2007 to 2010, passenger traffic of BMI has more than doubled reaching up to 118,600 people.
“We highly appreciate our partners and strive to do everything to ensure that our cooperation is successful and fruitful. Understanding of common goals and a joint search for optimal solutions helps us to achieve good results,” said Aleksey Rayevsky, Deputy Director of Commerce of the Airport, at a press briefing at the British Embassy.
October 29, 2011, the day of the first flight of BMI on the route from Moscow to London, Domodedovo Airport will congratulate passengers of the anniversary flight with a remarkable event with a birthday cake and champagne.
BMI is a member of the world's largest alliance, Star Alliance, having its base in Moscow in Domodedovo Airport. Currently BMI is the second largest European carrier at Heathrow Airport in terms of passenger traffic. In 2010, total passenger traffic of the airline reached ?more than 6 million people. Its fleet consists of 54 modern aircrafts: three A330-200s, nine A321-200s, ten A320-200s, eleven A319-100s, one B757-200, sixteen ERJ-145s, and four ERJ-135s.
