The ground breaking has been made on the sintering FGD project and the industrial sewage advanced treatment and comprehensive utilization project of Bayi Steel recently, the total investment of which was approaching 400 million yuan, so that it symbolized another great progress toward the strategic objective of establishing the most beautiful iron and steel enterprise in the west part of China, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Bayi Steel has been improving on the technical equipment and applying new advanced and mature process and technology for energy saving to the production practice as well so that the favorable cycling of production development and energy saving and emission reduction has been formed up. The two projects is constructed for the first time within Xinjiang Autonomous Region.

Bayi Steel sintering FGD planned to be built up on September next year is the significant energy saving and environmental protection project on comprehensive treatment as gas desulphurizing and dedusting toward the three sintering machines of large scale in service by Bayi Steel in order to actively response to the the national environmental protection policies and to fulfil the social responsibilities. After the project into production, the desulphurizing efficiency may reach 95% ; the SO2 emission out of the stack may be reduced to lower than 100mg/SCM; the dust emission may be reduced to lower than 30 mg/SCM; and the annual SO2 emission can be reduced by 12000 tons. The secondary pollution can be avoided during the operation of the whole desulphurizing system. The by-products of desulphurizing can be made into building materials for complete comprehensive utilization.

Bayi Steel has been applying centralized and professionalized management on water system by eliminating out-of-date production systems with high energy and water consumption so as to reduce the usage amount of industrial water and to continuously improving the index of new water consumption per ton of steel. The industrial sewage advanced treatment and comprehensive utilization project started at the same time is another great step of Bayi Steel on the field of environmental protection project construction. The project is designed for the dozens of millions production quantity of Bayi Steel in terms of scale and is endeavoring to meet the requirement of production and greening in terms of process, which conforms to the strategic requirement of Bay Steel to build up a green iron and steel enterprise. After built-up of the project, over 3000 tons of COD emission can be reduced yearly so that zero-emission of industrial sewage can be basically achieved.
