OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2011. Uzbekistan is planning to attract over 2 million foreign tourists a year by 2015, chairperson of Uzbektourism National Company Rustam Mirzaev said at the 17th Tashkent International Tourism Fair "Tourism on the Silk Road".

Rustam Mirzaev underlined that in line with the official statistics over 1 million foreign tourists paid visit to Uzbekistan in 2010. He added that Uzbekistan plans to attract 1.3 million tourists in 2012.

During the fair, it was noted that Tashkent International Tourism Fair "Tourism on the Silk Road" play important role in developing tourism and attracting tourism in Uzbekistan.

Head of Uzbekistan tourism administration underlined that it is expected that local and foreign tourism agencies will sign over 100 agreements within the Tashkent International Tourism Fair "Tourism on the Silk Road".

He added that the Uzbek companies will also ink over 1,000 contracts with local goods and service vendors within the fair.
