Perm Motor Manufactures Commemorate Outstanding Colleagues
OREANDA-NEWS. November 03, 2011. The employees and veterans of Perm Engine Company celebrated the 100th anniversary of Michael Subbotin, who was heading the Plant named after I. Stalin (today - Perm Engine Company) for 18 years (from 1956 till 1973).
Many long-service employees, veterans (some of them even from other cities) came to commemorate Michel Subbotin, who had been respectfully called "Master" for his strictness, grip and assiduity. Memorial ceremony began from laying of wreaths to M. Subbotin's tomb at the South cemetery and continued by visiting Perm engine manufacturing history museum. All recollections of long-service employees, who had worked with Michael Subbotin, were full of warmth and appreciation of all his doings for his company and city.
In the years of Michael Subbotin management the era of reactive aviation engines (D-20P, D-25V, D-30) and development of main gear boxes for "Mi-8" helicopter engines of large-scale production had begun in Perm industry. Simultaneously, in a very short time the manufacturing of liquid rocket engines for ‘Proton" first-stage vehicle was mastered. In 1966 Michael Subbotin was awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor Golden Star for timely and irreproachable accomplishment of this order, which was called the "national project number one".
These achievements would not be possible but for the solidarity of the company staff, who had shared Subbotin's efforts to fulfill the tasks set. He demanded selfless work from his employees, but he did his best to make their living comfortable. According to the traditions of that time the whole streets of new houses and social culture entities were mounted. The plant supported schools, nursery schools and children camps. In fact it was the plant's money, on which the stadium "Zvezda" was build.
"Michael Subbotin devoted himself fully to the plant, - Nicolay Malygin, one of the enterprise veterans says, - He respected the workers, knew many of them personally and never ignored them, always asked about their problems and needs. His will and personal example always inspired his colleagues for he was a real man, who lived and worked for his people and his plant good".
Today it has become a good tradition to encourage the best foremen, senior foremen and shop managers, who organize the production process effectively and ensure high-quality production release, paying them bonus named after Subbotin.
