OREANDA-NEWS. November 03, 2011. TATNEFT Company has completed the planned work on clearing the power line routes passing through the woodland. The area of the power line routes having been cleared since the beginning of the year has amounted to 1051.41 hectares, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

Performance of these activities was impelled by the abnormal weather conditions in December 2010, when the trees were bending due to icing load enveloping the power lines with their branches. All this resulted in short circuiting and wire breaking. Based on the analysis of the anomalies effects in December the Company has developed a program to enhance the stability of the electricity networks with regard to natural phenomena.

The activities to clean up the routes of overhead power lines of TATNEFT have been prepared jointly with the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan. In February and April of this year together with the regional forestry sections the Company surveyed 2.5 thousand km of overhead power lines crossing the woodlands, and determined the amount of work to clean up the power line routes. The work on clearing the routes and selective felling of trees began in May of this year.
