Tata Power Jojobera Team Felicitates Students of Dumkagora

Dumkagora, a part of Sarjamda, is a predominantly tribal village and is without basic infrastructure such as roads and electricity. As the village didn’t have electricity, students have been unable to study in the night. Furthermore, as many of the girl students were engaged in household chores during the day, they could only study at night.
This lighting facility from Tata Power for the study centre provided them with the opportunity to study during the night. As a result, 21 students passed the matriculation exam of Jharkhand board. Speaking on the occasion, PL Manjrekar, general manager, Jojobera thermal power station, said, “Education is the most important asset for an individual's success in life. It prepares us physically, mentally and socially for this world. Educated individuals enjoy respect among their colleagues and they can effectively contribute to the development of the country and society. Students especially girls should get good education and discipline and dedication is key to success.”
The study centre is being run by Adibasi Marshal Samitteeand has been provided solar light and books by Tata Power so that the centre can run at nightin GEL church school. Many new students are now availing of this facility and preparing for the upcoming matriculation exam to be held in 2012. The company has also provided them with a study guide and relevant books for competitive exams.
