OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2011. Sales of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes in Belarus increased year-on-year in January-September 2011, according to official statistics.

Sales of alcohol and beer in January-September 2011 reached 5.6 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), 10.3% of the total retail turnover.

Sales of hard drinks reached 7.945 million decaliters, up 11.9% year-on-year.

Sales of beer increased 12.8% year-on-year in January-September to 26.67 million decaliters.

Sales of cigarettes rose 10% on the year in January-September 2011 to 17.9 billion units.

Alcohol prices increased 27.9% in January-September 2011 on the year; prices rose 71.3% in September 2011 on the year and 24.9% from August 2011.

Cigarette prices increased 39% on the year in January-September 2011. Prices rose 120% on the year in September 2011 and 30.8% on the month.
