OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2011. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility, has been committed to generating energy from clean sources. Its 120-megawatt Haldia power plant is based on coke oven gases and has been honoured by Indian Register Quality Systems (IRQS), Mumbai, with a certificate of approval for ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

The ISO and OHSAS certificates are for generation of power from waste heat recovery system and supply to grid, subject to continued satisfactory maintenance of the occupational health and safety management system of the organisation. Tata Power’s Haldia plant was certified after a two-day audit undertaken successfully for all three systems.

Speaking on the achievement, Vijayant Ranjan, station manager, Haldia power plant, said, “We are committed to quality management to provide value to our customers. The policy was signed on May 15, 2011, and the journey started on June 1, 2011. In less than three months, we could successfully complete certification audit without any NCs. This was possible only because of continuous support from the top management and extraordinary teamwork exhibited by one and all at Haldia.”
