OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2011. Bakcell, the first mobile operator in Azerbaijan, is pleased to be the Official Partner of Mobile Monday (MoMo) in Azerbaijan in collaboration with Caspian Investment Center (CIC). During the MoMo Baku official Kick-off ceremony held at Hilton Hotel in Baku, representatives of local ICT companies and mass media were introduced to this unique concept of mobile social network in Azerbaijan. The project is also being supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan and World Bank’s InfoDev project, reported the press-centre of Bakcell.

Originating in Helsinki Finland, in 2000, MobileMonday (MoMo) is an open community platform of key mobile industry visionaries, developers and influential people fostering cooperation and business opportunities through live networking events. Baku is the 123rd city joining Mobile Monday. The main objectives of MoMo in Azerbaijan will be to foster innovation within the mobile sector of Azerbaijan through presenting technology innovations from the local and world mobile marketplace and implementing new projects and applications of modern technologies. One Monday of every month an informal meeting of the represetatives of mobile operators, ICT companies and young specialists on mobile tecnologies will be organized to share ideas and discuss innovative visions, trends, studies and forecasts from the mobile marketplace and the ways of starting new projects using mobile technologies.

"MoMo will be a very important project in the business sphere of Azerbaijan. This mobile social network will bring new technologies to Azerbaijan and help establishment of new business through mobile technologies", said Elshan Musayev, the President of Caspian Investment Center and founder of MoMo Baku.

As a key-note speaker at the MoMo Baku presentation event, CEO of Bakcell, Mr. Richard Shearer emphasized the paramount importance of launching such an innovative mobile platform in Azerbaijan for the future development of mobile sector in the country: “The mobile industry plays a key role in shaping any society. MoMo has been proven to be a successful tool to help this highly dynamic industry achieve benefits by spreading knowledge and engaging everyone, especially young people with good ideas to take action.
