OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2011. The World Telecommunication Exhibition ITU Telecom World – 2011 started its work. This year it marks the 40th anniversary of ITU Telecom World. Together with the representatives of Beltelecom the Belarusian delegation is headed by the Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus Sergei A. Nesterovich, reported the press-centre of Beltelecom.

At the exhibition Beltelecom is demonstrating transit capabilities of the Republic of Belarus for international traffic transfer. Moreover being the country’s national telecommunication operator and leader in telecommunication services provision it is also presenting its activities in this sphere.

Beltelecom’s data transport network is organized using fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL). The length of the network is over 27 thousand km.  The network is based on DWDM equipment (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) with a capacity of20 and 80 lambdas, STM-64 transport modules with channel bandwidth from 10 to 40 Gbps and redundancy based on ring structures.

Data transport network of the Republic of Belarus is integrated into the European-wide network by means of international connections with carriers of all the five neighboring states via fiber-optic cable.

The unique geographic location of the country enables provision of the most effective way of data transmission between remote parts of Europe through Beltelecom’s transit network. Thus the route Frankfurt – Minsk – Moscow ensures the shortest linear distance (2,090 km) and minimum propagation delay time (42 ms).

ITU Telecom World – 2011 event has brought together top executives of the leading companies in the industry, representatives of ministries and departments, chief research scientists and consultants to discuss the existing problems and development prospects of the world telecommunications.
