OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2011. OJSC Orenburgneft (part of the TNK-BP group) has invested USD 31.145 million in an environmental programme at the Garshinskoe field in Orenburg Region, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

The Company has commissioned a gas compressor station and installed a preliminary water separation unit at the Garshinskoe field as part of a programme aimed at boosting the region’s utilization of associated gas production. TNK-BP is consistently increasing the volumes of associated gas that it utilizes in its oil production areas, and thanks to the commissioning of the new facilities at the Garshinskoe field one more gas flare has been extinguished. Taking part in the event were TNK-BP Executive Director German Khan, TNK-BP Executive Vice President, Upstream Alexander Dodds, General Director of OJSC Orenburgneft Valery Batrashkin, TNK-BP Vice President and TNK-BP Orenburg Branch Director Aleksandr Grabovskiy.

“By the end of 2012 we plan to extinguish 16 more flares. This project will enable us not only to achieve a gas utilization level of at least 95% at the Garshinsnkoe field, but also to seriously reduce our operating costs. This will give Orenburgneft additional income from the sale of associated gas, while creating new jobs the region”, noted Alexander Grabovskiy.
