OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2011. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) took part in an APEC training course on “Effective Mechanisms against Cartel Offences” in Penang (Malaysia). The training course was organized jointly by Competition Commission of Malaysia and Japan Fair Trade Commission, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Training Course allowed discussing various aspects of confronting competition-restricting collusions between market participants, investigation mechanisms, the best practices and exchanging experience in this field and the issues of increasing efficiency of the work of competition authorities in combating cartels.

FAS Cartel Department made a presentation about the best anti-cartel practices of FAS Russia that caused considerable interests among participants. Taking part in the training course enabled exchanging the best international practices in this field.

“Free competition is one of APEC priorities. We use events of this authoritative international organization to spread out our experience and exchange information on various aspects of competition policy, in particular, combating cartels. This direction has become especially important to FAS right now as we approach Russia’s chairmanship over APEC”, said Deputy Head of FAS, Andrey Tsyganov.
