AGMK Plans to Increase Copper Production
OREANDA-NEWS. October 26, 2011. Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine (AGMK, Uzbekistan) will start to develop off-balance ores of Kalmakyr deposit, which is main resource base of the company, metalinfo.ru reported quoting Prime news agency.
The project on attracting off-balance ores at Kalmakyr deposit will allow to increase production of copper by 2-3% in short-term perspective.
According to AGMK calculations, the most advanced technology on copper production from slag-heap and stripping ores is heap leaching. By 2016, the capacities on raw material processing will grow by 4 million tonnes due to attraction of additional raw materials.
In 2012, the enterprise is planning to announce several tenders on purchase of new technologic and mining equipment for the project.
The project with the cost of US million will be implemented due to own resources of the AGMK.
AGMK is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The company plans to increase copper output by 8% year-on-year to 90,000 tonnes.
