OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2011. The license expired on 19 October 2011, and the decision to extend it was taken after meeting between Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Putin directed that the necessary measures should be taken in order not to disturb the Moldovan wine’s import in Russia.

The new license is valid until 19 October 2016. Also, the Russian authorities said they were considering the opportunity to allow such Moldovan companies as: Cricova, Tomai Vinex and Moldavskiy Standard to export wine in bulk to Russia.

The Moldovan government notes that Russia is the biggest importer of Moldovan wines. Moldova exported alcoholic beverages worth 97.4 million dollars in the first eight months of 2011. About 25.8 per cent of the export (25.1 million dollars) went to Russia.
