Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), Angul has bagged the Greentech Platinum CSR Award 2011 was awarded in the evening of on 19th October 11 in Srinagar, the capital city of Jammu & Kashmir. The Award has been launched by the Greentech Foundation, New Delhi with the recognition and support of Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Govt of India. It was presented by Mr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General of Institute Of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India and former Secretary in Ministry of Heavy Industries, in Centaur Hotel in Sri Nagar.

More than 160 corporates were shortlisted for this Award for Corporate Social Responsibility. After a tough evaluation exercise , Jindal Steel and Power Limited , Angul was awarded with the highest category Platinum CSR Award for its highly impacting CSR projects encompassing its novel Population Stabilization Programme named 'Aanchal' and other innovative rural livelihood projects

The Organizers of the Award applauded the efforts of JSPL in operating the Kishori Express to control the Adolescent Girls' Anemia in 189 villages of Chhendipada block of Angul district in Odisha in collaboration with the District Administration. JSPL's initiative of on-line registration of pregnant women under MCC soft ware for ensuring 16 Ante-natal Checkups in all 189 villages of Chhendipada block in Angul district was described as an unique of its kind in the Country.

In a congregation of more than 300 participants in the picturesque Centaur Hotel on the bank of Dal Lake of Srinagar, the unique initiatives of JSPL for promoting SSODASHI, the low- cost sanitary napkin for the rural women was given thunderous applause. JSPL's promoted SHG produced Herbal Body care Products under the brand name of ECO SPA and the 100% biodegradable Odi Fab Jute products were exhibited in the Award Ceremony which attracted very high admirations. Several senior bureaucrats of Govt of India and Govt of Jammu Kashmir participate in the Congregation.

In his inaugural address, Mr Bhaskar Chatterjee said that he himself was heading the jury for Greentech CSR Award -2011 along with other panelists consisting of Senior Govt. officers and CMDs of Corporates and eminent Professors and educationists. Mr Chatterjee said that the Jury members have ensured that Charity is not categorized as CSR. No Company irrespective of its financial and public stature has been shortlisted for this prestigious award which does not implement the CSR Projects with a scientific measurable project approach with quantifiable impact on the Community. Mr Chatterjee said that the Corporate(s) who have won this CSR Award are very well meaning and responsible entities in pursuing their social responsibility.

Mr Prashant Hota, Asst Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility, R&R and Corporate Communication received the Award on behalf of JSPL Angul accompanied by Mr Ashutosh Mishra, Dy Manager. In his experience sharing speech, Mr Hota attributed the credit of this Platinum CSR Award to the People of Odisha in general and the Community of Angul Villages in particular. Mr Hota also mentioned that under the charismatic leadership of JSPL's Chairman Hon'ble Parliamentarian Naveen Jindal Ji, CSR projects in JSPL are being implemented with passion and commitment. Most of the CSR Projects in Angul are being implemented in PPP mode and are under structured monitoring by the Peoples' Representative, Media and other development Agencies. "Executive Director Shri Rajesh Jha reviews each CSR projects regarding its deliverable, cost, partnership issues and impacts in structured review meetings and undertakes field visits and encourages social Audit of the projects' said Mr Hota.

Mr Prashant Hota has been also specially invited as a Guest Speaker to speak on the challenges in implementation of CSR Project in this Pan- India CSR Conclave by Green Tech Foundation supported by Ministry of Heavy Industries of Govt of India.
