Recognising Tata Power’s efforts towards environment conservation and management, Greentech Foundation has conferred the most admired top honour ‘Gold’ at the 12th Annual Greentech Environment Award 2011 for outstanding achievement in environment management in the thermal power category for the company’s Trombay Thermal Power Station situated in Mumbai. 

Farooq Abdullah, minister of new and renewable energy, Government of India, presented the award to Vijay Chourey, general manager, Trombay Thermal Power Station, and Anand Gurav, manager, environment, Tata Power, at a ceremony held in Srinagar.

Anil Sardana, managing director, Tata Power, said, “We are extremely happy to receive this prestigious award and would like to thank the jury for recognising our efforts and commitment towards responsible growth. ‘Sustainability’ forms the core of our company’s vision and we will continue to focus on carrying forward our green legacy.”  

The Greentech Environment Award is supported and recognised by the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India.

Recently, Tata Power Trombay Thermal Power Station also received the top honour ‘Gold’ for the Best Environmental Performance Power Plant and ‘Bronze’ award in the Environmental Company of the Year category at the Asian Power Awards 2011 held in Malaysia.

Tata Power was also awarded the top honour for stable and outstanding safety performance at the 10th Annual Greentech Safety Award 2011. Further, the plant was also bestowed with several quality awards at the recent Quality Circle Forum of India.
