OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2011. Belarus’ inflation was at 13.6% in September 2011, after 8.9% in August, 3.5% in July and 8.6% in June, the National Statistics Committee said in a release.
The consumer price index soared 74.5% in January-September 2011, up from 6.8% in the first nine months of 2010.
Staple food prices went up 18.6% on the month in September and 84.2% in January-September; non-food prices increased 10.5% and 86.4%, and service prices went up 5% and 33.8%.
Belarus’ inflation grew 9.9% in 2010 (10.1% in 2009). The forecast for 2011 stands at 7.5%-8.5%. In their original forecast for 2011 the Finance Ministry of Belarus expected consumer prices to grow 7.5-8.5%, however in mid September the forecast was resized, with inflation expected to exceed 100%.
