OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2011. KAMAZ will take an active part in the annual NGV rally Blue Corridor’2011, which will start in the Urals tomorrow, on the 19th of October, and finish two weeks later in Moscow.

The company’s policy presupposes concern for ecology; therefore KAMAZ tries to minimize environmental damage developing new and upgrading existing vehicles. The company did a lot of work to produce KAMAZ vehicles running on compressed natural gas. In terms of environmental standards, natural gas is considered the “cleanest” fuel in comparison with other fuels. In addition, it is economically attractive while oil prices are constantly growing – the cost of methane is two or three times lower than the cost of gasoline, diesel fuel and propane.

The Russian leader of the automotive industry participates in the Blue Corridor rally, since the company`s interests coincide with those of the organizers of the rally. The main objective of the project is to promote natural gas as the most environmentally friendly and economically attractive automobile fuel. The participants of the rally plan to attract attention of the regional and municipal executive and legislative authorities to the benefits of the use of gas as automobile fuel.

In all, the column of competitors will include 18 vehicles – trucks, cars and buses. On Saturday, the column including a low-entry city bus NEFAZ-5299-30-31, a garbage truck Minipak MK2 on a KAMAZ-4308 chassis and a dual-purpose vehicle with a crane-manipulator on KAMAZ-43114 started from Naberezhnye Chelny to Yekaterinburg to participate in the Blue Corridor rally. The vehicles were developed jointly with OOO RariTEK, KAMAZ’s partner producing NGVs.

The participants can drive up to 3.5 thousand kilometers across Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Ufa, Orenburg, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd, Voronezh, Tambov, and Tula. The final destination is Moscow where the final meeting and presentation of diplomas will take place. These regional centers were chosen not by chance: they have great potential for NGV market expansion. Everybody will have an opportunity to appreciate advantages of KAMAZ vehicles at exhibitions of NGVs which will be organized along the route of the column.
