Freight One Hauled Over 230 000 Metric Tons of Sugar in Q3
OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2011. Freight One hauled over 230,000 metric tons of sugar in the Central Black Earth Region in the third quarter, a 48% increase over the same period of last year.
Most of it came from sugar producers of Voronezh, Belgorod, Lipetsk and Tambov regions including Prodimeks Holding Company, Rusagro Sugar and RSK Trading House.
The significant increase in sugar traffic was primarily due to an increase in the land area devoted to sugar beet farming (for example, in Voronezh region the figure is now 190 hectares), and favorable weather conditions. Freight One offers favorable rates on sugar haulage in boxcars for Russian consumers that are 20% less than the total cost of using state-owned cars for the same purpose.
With sugar production high, Freight One is hauling sugar for the first time from the Central Black Earth Region to Central Asia. The company hauled 12,000 tons of sugar to Central Asia in July-September 2011, of which 2200 tons were hauled to the Kyrgyz Republic, where demand for sugar is high.
