OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2011. Shri C.S. Verma, Chairman, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), presented the World Steel Association's 2011 Steelie award for 'Excellence in Sustainability Reporting' to M/s Rautaruukki of Finland on 13th October 2011 at Paris. World Steel Association's Steelies trophies are awarded in seven categories. Shri CS Verma remarked that these awards would go a long way in making steel industry more sustainable. "Such awards would only encourage us all to work harder," he added.

The Steelies winners were selected through nominations by member companies to the relevant Worldsteel committees followed by final selection by an expert panel. Other categories included best Steel industry website of the year, Worldsteel activity of the year, Life cycle assessment leadership, Industry communicator of the year, among others.

Shri Verma also took this occasion to announce that the premier global industry body World Steel Association has decided to hold its next convention in New Delhi next year.
