Ukraine to Meet All Requirements of Kyoto Protocol
OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2011. The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Mykola Zlochevsky is satisfied with the results of operation in Ukraine of the team of international experts ERT, which has the day before completed learning of the National emissions inventory of a greenhouse gases for 1990-2009. Preliminary outputs of group have been sounded based on the results of testing which have positive character.
"I am convinced that at the next meeting of the Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol, Ukraine will receive the approval of the progress demonstrated by the present Government. Ukraine already now proves that it is ready to meet all requirements of the Kyoto Protocol," the Minister Zlochevsky has noted.
The preliminary outputs of ERT experts will lay down in the basis of the final report on check which will allow recovering the status of correspondence of Ukraine to requirements of the Kyoto Protocol. This will allow restoring Ukraine's participation in international emissions trading and joint implementation mechanism under the national procedure.
During the presentation of preliminary findings ERT members have reported that the inventory for 1990-2009 as a whole conforms to requirements with the national reporting. The international experts have noted the significant progress in report preparation, Ukraine's ability to promptly and effectively respond to comments which have been put forward to the previous inventory - for 1990-2008.
