OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2011. The railway experts hold the system work for maintenance of transportations with use of electro draught instead of diesel at the expense of what the cost price of transportations will decrease by 55-60 %.

For today, by estimations of experts, the cost of procurement of electricity for performance of identical operational work by electro draught in 3.8-4.5 times more low (depending on the types of motion), than for the purchase of diesel fuel in the application of diesel traction.

Prior to 2016 inclusive, the railwaymen plans to electrify 1562 km on the sites, included in the strategic directions of development of railway transport of Ukraine, which are necessary for differentiation of movement of passenger and cargo trains, the introduction of high-speed traffic and maintenance of increase in throughput of the railways, both for internal and for the international and transit transportations. They pass on the five railroads: Southern, Odessa, Pridniprovsky, South-West and Donetsk.

As the Chief of the main control of electrification and power supply of the Ukrzaliznytsia, Vitaly Maksymchuk has told, the locomotives with higher unit capacity, which can provide only electric traction, are needed to increase the capacity of sites, the introduction of heavy trains. This is necessary for the implementation of high-speed passenger traffic, as evidenced by the experience of Western Europe and Russia.
