OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2011. TNK-BP announces that its Sorochinskneft oil and gas production unit (part of the TNK-BP group of companies) is investing over 360 million rubles in 2011 in a programme to process oil sludge and drill waste and to remediate well sites, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

Since the start of 2011, the company has remediated 7 well sites, two of which have already been handed over to the remediation commission. Work is currently underway on a further 47 sites, which will be completed by the end of 2011.

TNK-BP is working hard to ensure rigorous compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, applying the most up-to-date and effective technologies and methods in this area. “TNK-BP is implementing a sweeping programme of measures aimed at minimizing the impact of its operations on the environment. The oil sludge and drill waste treatment project and well site remediation are important components of our environmental efforts”, said Aleksandr Loginov, Director of Sorochinskneft’s Health, Safety and Environment Department.
