OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2011. The 2nd Annual SimpliFlying Awards for Excellence in Social Media honoured Estonian Air as the best airline in the world in driving revenue via social media, reported the press-centre of Estonian Air.

After 134 nominations Estonian Air passed through to the finals as the only European airline shortlisted together with Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia in the category „The best use of social media to drive revenue“.

Estonian Air’s reverse auction organised in Facebook during the summer got positive feedback for its innovativeness and for successfully engaging customers.

”The first place is a big acknowledgement for us, espacially among the ”big players” in the airline industry. Moreover, it is a proof of our efforts in being successful and a frontrunner in using social media,” said Gunnar Magi, the Marketing and Development Director of Estonian Air.

The International SimplyFlying Awards of Excellence was organised by SimpliFlying, the world’s leading airline brand strategy consulting company, and Hotel Marketing Strategy blog already the second year. This year awards were shared in five categories, where other categories include „Best use of social media for customer service/crises management“, „Best Airline in Social Media“, „Best Airport in Social media“ and „Best Hotel in Social Media“.
