RTS Announced Stock Market Weekly Trading Results: October 3-7, 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2011. Over the week of October 3-7, 2011, the RTS Index went down by 2.18% to reach 1,311.91 points (1,341.09 points as of September 30, 2011). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 10.47 points), followed by Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 5.04 points) and Sberbank (SBERS) (down 4.33 points).
The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 2.04% to reach 9,114.32 points (9,303.84 points as of September 30, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index - RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 4.15% closing at 1,497.35 points (1,562.11 points as of September 30, 2011).
Last week's drop on the stock market was accompanied by a decrease of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went down by 10.13% to reach 51.47 points (57.27 points as of September 30, 2011).
Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest downturn was reported by the finance sector, with the RTS Finances Index decreasing by 5.80%. A significant decrease was also shown by the industrial and consumer sectors, with the RTS Industrial Index and RTS Consumer & Retail Index going down by 4.18% and 2.86% respectively.
The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, lost 10.79%.
The US dollar appreciated by 1.99% against the ruble to reach 32.51 rubles per US dollar (31.88 rubles as of September 30, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of October 3-7, 2011 equaled USD9.69 billion (315.18 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,812.51 million.
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD893.52 million (RUB29,033.73 million) followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD473.60 million (RUB15,396.65 million) and ordinary shares of OAO "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD162.44 million (RUB5,281.15 million). The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 48.29%, 25.60% and 8.78% respectively.
The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of OAO Severstal (CHMFS) that went up by 11.19% to RUB379.00, OJSC Uralkali (URKAS) that added 7.35% to reach RUB238.08 and JSC "RusHydro" (HYDRS) that grew by 5.73% to RUB1,108.
The week's top losers on the RTS Standard market were ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-1" (OGKAS) that fell 14.75% to reach RUB0.578 followed by OJSC "MMK" (MAGNS) that lost 9.85% to reach RUB11.90 and OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) that shed 9.73% to reach RUB6,311.20.
