OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2011. The exhibition of Turkmenistan’s economic achievements held in the Turkmen capital to mark the 20th anniversary of independence closed. It was organized by the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Institute of Strategic Planning and Economic Development and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.

Over 140 state and private enterprises participated in the economic forum. During three days the results of the work and the plans for long-term development of various sectors of the national economy were presented in the Exhibition Centre where the large-scale exposition showcasing the dynamic development of economic and social spheres and Turkmenistan’s accomplishments had been arranged.

The expositions reflecting an unprecedented scale of the social and economic programmes and ambitious international projects implemented in line with the Turkmen leader’s strategy for fundamental reforms aroused profound interest of the visitors. The draft designs, models and photographs of various facilities and other exhibits told about the drastic changes taking place in all regions of the ancient Turkmen land.

Numerous expositions presented at the Exhibition Palace illustrated the process of diversification, modernization of the national economy and enhancement of Turkmenistan’s scientific and technological potential. The pavilions of the enterprises of the fuel and energy, construction, textile and chemical industries vividly illustrated it.

Ambitious investment projects, innovations, state-of-the-art equipment used in various sectors as well as vast opportunities to promote international cooperation in development of abundant resources of our country were demonstrated art at the exhibition along with a wide range of industrial products, foodstuff and pieces of applied.

The country’s achievements in the humanitarian sphere, particularly in the education and science sectors, were reflected at the exhibition. They were presented in the exposition of the Academy of Sciences.

An important outcome of the exhibition became numerous contacts and talks between representatives of enterprises and organisations, private producers and foreign partners which have the great chances to grow into long-term cooperation. Heads of enterprises of all forms of ownership found new business partners at the exhibition.

The forum organizers presented the versatile programme of the international scientific conference on the State Regulation of Turkmenistan’s Social and Economic Development: Priority Trends and Development Prospects, which brought together participants from over 10 countries, including the United States, Russia, Belgium, India, Korea, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The conference agenda focused on such important issues of Turkmenistan’s economic policy as mitigation of the impact of the world financial and economic crisis, development of conceptual trends of the social policy, state regulation and influence of the banking reforms on economic development, etc.

Such a great number of themes under discussion let conference participants analyze existing situation in key sectors of the national economy and discuss the tactics and strategy for its development together with specialists, consider critical issues and ways to address them and intensify the process of adoption of advanced technologies to modernize the basic production assets and social sphere.

Diplomas and certificates were presented to conference participants during the ceremony of closing the main exhibition of the year.
