OREANDA-NEWS. October 12, 2011. Citicorp Software Technology Services (CSTS) and Wuhan University today officially held a signing ceremony to launch a new financial IT program. Yu Jin, Executive Vice President and Country Human Resources Officer of Citi China and Richard Ho Sang, General Manager of Citicorp Software Technology Services (CSTS), together with the Principal of Wuhan University, attended the ceremony. The announcement coincided with “Citi Day” at the University, during which a number of activities were conducted involving Citi executives and students at the university, reported the press-centre of Citi.

The Citi-Wuhan University Financial IT Program has been established to meet the increasing and critical need for financial IT talent in the banking sector in China. The CSTS and Wuhan University class is a two-year program for 25 to 40 students. In their junior year, customized banking IT courses, taught by senior Citi managers, will be available to students, while in their senior year, qualified candidates will receive an internship at CSTS together with a comprehensive on-site training program.

Richard Ho Sang said, "This program will provide an opportunity for students to link theory with practice. We hope it proves a strong platform for students to develop into future leaders skilled in software development for financial services, and to contribute substantially to the future growth of China’s financial services sector."

Students enrolled in the program will receive a number of distinct benefits:

Customized courses that provide opportunities for students to learn cutting-edge banking IT knowledge from senior managers at Citi

An internship and comprehensive training program designed to help students develop banking IT skills that can be immediately applied in the workplace

Access to a rich and ever-growing banking software engineer network and knowledge base

One-on-one support from a designated experienced mentor during the internship component of the program

Yu Jin said, "Citi has an extensive program of engagement with leading universities around China, and we are delighted to be further strengthening our ties with Wuhan University. Citi is growing strongly in China and we work hard to attract and retain the best available talent. We expect that this financial IT program will help expand the talent pool in China in this area, not only for us but for the banking sector as a whole."
