OREANDA-NEWS. October 12, 2011. TNK-BP announces the launch of Transportation Safety Month at the Company’s subsidiaries, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

As part of the programme to reduce accident rates, improve transportation safety and make transportation more efficient, TNK-BP will monitor the way subsidiaries and contractor personnel are meeting Transportation Safety Technical Standard compliance requirements, with the above standard being mandatory for Company contractors.

As of today, the majority of TNK-BP’s general vehicle and special-purpose vehicle fleet of over 20,000 vehicles is equipped with in-vehicle monitoring systems designed to register information about vehicle movement, such as speed, acceleration, deceleration, mileage and time in transit. In October, HSSE personnel will be assessing how efficiently the systems are used.

The company will pay special attention to monitoring the mandatory use of seat belts and conformance with requirements for securing heavy equipment on the platform during transportation by trailer.

“This set of measures will enable us to assess contractor vehicle preparedness for performing production plans and conformance with the Company’s stringent operational safety requirements”, said Igor Karlin, acting Vice President, HSE.
